Dear Friend, July, 2021
“Let us not give up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing and all the more as we see the DAY approaching.”
Hebrews 10:25
In the following article I have listed 10 reasons why each of us needs to attend a weekly local Bible-believing Church.
1) To have fellowship with the crucified and risen Christ. “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am with them.” (Matthew 18:20) If you are looking to find Jesus, you will find him when and where the church family meets together.
2)To hear God’s voice. When the family of God meets together, Christ is present. Believers have the privilege of hearing God’s voice through the worship, the preaching and the prophetic gifts. In a world filled with many confusing voices telling us what to do, it is essential that we hear and obey God’s voice.
3)To be forgiven. When we gather together, Christ is present to forgive our sins as we call upon Him in repentance. Those who faithfully attend church can leave each service knowing God has “cast our sins into the sea of forgetfulness.”
4)To grow in your knowledge of God’s Word. The Bible instructs us to study God’s Word so we can handle it correctly. (2 Timothy 2:15) We will grow in our knowledge and understanding of God’s Word through preaching, teaching and Bible study.
5)To feed your soul. Jesus said,” Man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4) Just like your physical body needs to be fed, so does your soul. Weekly worship/Bible study is a great place to feed your soul.
6)To be loved and encouraged. As the church gathers together, believers have the opportunity to love and encourage each other. Sometimes we listen, we pray, we hug. The Scripture says we rejoice with those who are happy and mourn with those who mourn.
7)To be prayed for. Jesus said, “If two of you shall agree on earth about anything they ask, it shall be done by my Father in heaven.” Together the church family places each other’s needs before the Father, believing in a God who hears and answers prayer.
8)To worship. We have been created to worship God. When together, we lift our voices in corporate worship, Christ is present. In worship, He fills our souls and we are changed.
9)To promote the Gospel. The church is to “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel.” (Matthew 28:19) How do you promote the Gospel? By attending church You promote the Gospel with your regular giving of tithes and offerings (this helps the church fund it’s various ministries). You promote the Gospel by receiving God’s Word at church and sharing that Word with others.
10)To live longer. Studies have proven that weekly church attendance boosts the immune system and decreases blood pressure. Weekly church attendance may add two to three years to your life.
Where do you attend weekly?
