Points from the Pastor's Pen
“This is what the Lord Almighty says 'Give careful thought to your way.’” Haggai 1:7
God’s people had become so busy and overwhelmed with every day living, that they were no longer seeking God. Too busy to seek God! This is a continual struggle everyone must address.
In this short letter found almost at the end of the Old Testament, Haggai speaks these words. “You are living in your beautiful houses, while the temple of God is in ruins and no one even seems to care.”
God’s people were forgetting to seek God. This is so like our present world, (Sometimes even for Christ-followers) we focus on all the things we must get done and seldom focus on our need to fill our souls with more of Jesus.
The result is most of the time we are stressed, tired, and negative when God’s desire is to fill our souls with His love, peace, and joy.
So as we enter into 2019, would you “consider your ways”? Have you been too busy to seek God? Have you forgotten to daily fill your soul with God’s peace and joy?
I believe it is time we “consider our ways” and make our seeking after God the highest and most important thing we do each day in 2019. I am claiming God’s promise (for each of you) found in Hebrews 11:6 that “He rewards those who earnestly seek Him”.
May we seek God together in 2019.
